What to Expect

In our sessions, I will try to find out what is bothering you and I may make suggestions to you of actions to try or ways to think of things differently.    I use cognitive therapy which helps people look at negative thoughts in a more positive way.  I help you look at how your earlier experiences may influence what you do now.  I may suggest books to read and apps to try.  I may ask you to write down your thoughts and experiences.

Many people make assumptions about how people should act and think and we may discuss those assumptions.

Sometimes you may feel worse when you leave because you've brought up thoughts that were buried.   Many days you will feel relieved that you have finally talked about a problem or now have a way to try to improve a problem.

Sessions are usually about 45 minutes.

I can occasionally provide video therapy for clients who are physically in Ohio.  Some insurances are starting to cover video therapy.
